A Bit of Happiness

Every librarian has it's own little quirks, it's own little happiness in one's own library.  For some it's getting new books.  Others, getting new computers.  Sometimes for some, it's when the children that was causing all the trouble now has a car and doesn't come into the library anymore!!!!

For our library, many of the librarians are getting excited.  Why are we getting excited?  We are always getting books (either we pay for them, patrons donate money to get these new books, or patrons donate new books to us) so it can't be that.

We still have kids (everyone one of them are little dears (LOL)) coming and going.  So it's not that.
For us (at the moment) is.....NEW SHELVES!!!!!!!!

That's right folks.  The Shelby Area District Library has gotten new shelves and every Librarians feels like they just won the lottery!

The town's Optimist Club donate a chunk of money for the Young Adult section and we couldn't be more excited!!!  Now originally people/business would donate to the library thinking they are going for books.  And they are right.  But in this case, we talked it over with the Optimist Club and came to the decision that we need new shelves before we can get more books.  And they were excited to hear about this.
So we contacted with local businesses and they got our shelves done.  Here are the results:

Ms. Linda is excited about expanding the Manga series.

We moved the Paperback Racks to the side to fit this wonderful shelve which is now where we store our YA Manga books.  The books are on Side A.....

....whereas this is Side B with plenty of space to expand the YA Manga series.  (I honestly think we are more excited than the teenagers are about getting more and more Manga books)

This new shelf will now hold out YA Non-Fiction.  It was kind of cramping up the Graphic Novel section which is WAY better looking now!!!!

Here are the finishing touches:

I don't think anyone else was more excited about these new shelves then Ms. Quinn and Ms. Linda who are YA Librarians.  But I do hope that the patrons like the new look, and respect it.  Now on to looking for more Manga series and Graphic Novels!!!!  Our job is so exciting, it's great!!!
