Rainbow Loom @ Your Library

You have heard of them.  Kids are wearing them everywhere.  They are called the Rainbow Loom Rubber Band Bracelets!!!!  So many cool designs kids are coming up with and loving everything about these kind of bracelets.

There are literally hundreds of designs right on YouTube that you can make right at home and they are VERY cool designs.  So many kids are making these we felt that here at the Shelby Library we should have an option of teaching kids that don't have computers and see the new designs coming up.  Our wonderful Ms. Samantha has stepped up to the plate to teach herself on how to make the Rubber bands bracelets and she has done a fabulous job setting up tutorials for kids to follow while making these bracelets.





Kids were already asking for the next class of the Rubber Bands!!!!!  It is so exciting to see the young generation interested into something that isn't all on Television or Video Games!  Stay tuned for more excitement at the Shelby Area District Library!!!!

Here at the Shelby Library we love to help out.  Anything the public needs, we try our best to help them out. Now I'm not saying that we work miracles or anything, but if we can't find the answers we try to help you find someone who can!! Many of the times we would be getting patrons to come in that just needs to find a business.  Whether it be the businesses phone number, fax number or just point to where the building is!!  Many patrons heard a book on the radio and would love to read it, but just can't remember the title nor the author.  But they remember the radio station!!  We also get some people that come in and say I picked up this book not realizing it was part of the series.  Do you know the titles of the others and do you have them?  Or they saw a book on the book stand somewhere and want to read it but just can't remember the title nor the author, nor what it's all about but knows for sure, for sure that the cover of the book was Blue!   Those are jus

Happy New Year, Monkey

I know this is long overdue but.....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! It has been very busy at the Library trying to get back at the pace of actually working.  Checking on book overdue, getting back into the habit of checking in and out books, helping people finding books, (remembering where everything is) and of course picking up that pesky habit of actually waking up and getting out of bed. :) The Library had no trouble picking up the pace though.  People coming in after the holidays looking for new books to check out; needing help with their NEW Nooks, Kindles and iPads that they got for Christmas; faxing, making copies for their work.  Or just people need to check their emails.  Just getting back in the habit of day to day lives.  Seeing familiar faces, talking about what we did on our Christmas/New Years vacation, who did we see.  And then seeing new faces just dropping by, on their way home but need a print of their plane tickets.   Now it is starting be like any other day so I have take

But there was a time where adults used to READ to their children. Either it was to calm the child down, or just for pleasure. The child get to spend that time frame dreaming of knights in shining armor slaying dragons, saving queens. Or living in fairy tales and talking to animals. After the story ends, they either dream into that world, or not. It's just a bunch of stories.
