Miss Kelsey's Review

Out of My Mind
By: Sharon Draper

As a child you are you are surrounded by objects, sayings, people. Sometimes a child will remember them and be able to speak to them, some just stare and when they get older, can't quite remember who was there at 4 months old.

Melody can.

Melody can remember.

She can remember every face that she has ever met.

She can remember every word that was spoken to her.

She knows the meaning, she knows when to say it.

She's eleven years old and she knows over a million words, she knows the answers to any trivia questions. She is the smartest girl in her class. But the other kids don't take her seriously. They think she's lying, that she's cheating. Parents try there hardest to understand her at times. She has all these words to share, these sayings to share with them and it's hard for even the parents to put them together.

For Melody has Cerebral Palsy...she can't walk....she can't talk...she can't even write what she wan'ts to say to you. All her words, all her sayings are stuck inside her photographic memory. She will never have a voice...her parents will never fully understand how much she loves them.

Until one day someone found a voice for Melody.

Melody can now speak.

Will you listen to what she has to say?
