"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." William Shakespeare

2016. Two Thousand Sixteen. Just a number. No matter how you spell it, it's just a number. The world however has made it seem bigger than life, more important than it really is. We see it as a fresh beginning. A new start in our lives. What do we look forward to in a New Year? Change. We change the way we look. Get a new hairstyle; try a new fragrance of perfume. Find a new clothing line that will match the new style of shoes. Join a gym, learn a new diet to take away those pesky pounds that somehow creeped up. A lot of things we do in a New Year is to change the way we look on the outside.

But what about the inside? What can we do to make us feel better about ourselves? There is so much to be angry about these days, that now instead of joy and happiness, nothing but hatred and bitterness consumes the heart. Where can we find that joy and happiness in our day to day lives that will again fill our hearts with purpose?

In a Library, of course.

There are so many stories, lives if you will, that are going through exactly what you are going through. Feeling what you are feeling. Except, it's just words on paper right? Except, there is power in words. It can fill you up with wonder, excitement, all emotions while also setting up guidelines in your life that's not found in a Non-Fiction book. You are probably asking yourself: "But how will I know which book to search for?" A lot of books to choose from that will showcase a sense of purpose in life, a sense of being a part of something special along with love and friendship all rolled into one. I'll give you one for today. The Little Prince by Antoine De Saint-Exupery.

The Little Prince is a story of a young boy that ventures from his planet to search other planets for friends, companionship. But in order to do so, he has to say goodbye to his responsibility, his beautiful flower, Rose. He encounters more people than he could ever imagine, but what he didn't predict was the lessons he was receiving by meeting these people. Even for a day, each new stranger showed him how fortunate he is. As he meets new friends, new responsibilities that are out there there is always that wonder: "How is my Rose?"

What will be your rose? You will probably encounter a thousand people in the year 2016. But out of those thousands, which ones will matter to you? Which ones can you learn from? Which ones can you teach? What can you learn from a child's book while living in an adult world? Oh my dear children, many wonderful and exciting things. The Little Prince, not just for children anymore.
