Happy New Year, Monkey

I know this is long overdue but.....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

It has been very busy at the Library trying to get back at the pace of actually working.  Checking on book overdue, getting back into the habit of checking in and out books, helping people finding books, (remembering where everything is) and of course picking up that pesky habit of actually waking up and getting out of bed. :)

The Library had no trouble picking up the pace though.  People coming in after the holidays looking for new books to check out; needing help with their NEW Nooks, Kindles and iPads that they got for Christmas; faxing, making copies for their work.  Or just people need to check their emails.  Just getting back in the habit of day to day lives.  Seeing familiar faces, talking about what we did on our Christmas/New Years vacation, who did we see.  And then seeing new faces just dropping by, on their way home but need a print of their plane tickets.

Now it is starting be like any other day so I have taken this quiet opportunity (knock on wood on the quiet part) to update the Shelby Area District Libraries account.

For those that just clicked onto our website, I Thank You for stopping on by to see what our Library has to offer.  For those that are already following us, I Thank You as well for sticking with us.  Shelby Area District Library is just like any other Library:  We have books on our shelves for every age from 1-100; we provide Entertainment, Adventure, Mystery, Romance, for we have the Key to open all the portals of the world.

We provide a variety of resources:  Books, DVDs, Audiobooks, College papers, eBook downloading, computer know-how, and any other kind of questions you may have.  We do try our best to answering every ones questions but also keep in mind, Librarians are also human so we might not have a very quick answer for you, but we will try our best to find the right one for you.  We all take pride in our work and we work to serve you to the best of our knowledge.  We are all very accommodating and very open-minded.  We, Librarians, have a saying "There are no dumb questions."  Trust us when we tell you, we have heard and seen it all.  And we love it when we see people curious about things in their lives, in their world, so why not ask that questions you have been so embarrassed about before?  How else are you going to get your answer?  How else are you going to learn and grow?  That's what Librarians all around the world offer and that is no different here at the Shelby Library in West Michigan.

We also like to provide some fun in peoples lives.  We have a Scrabble club (meets every third Thursday of the Month); Storytime for the kiddos (every Friday at 11:30); a Library Book Club (Book Tasting Book Club meets whenever the Library isn't busy on a Saturday); Adult Coloring sessions (every last Saturday of the month) and a whole lot of other fun book challenges and games.  We even try to throw in a movie night once and a while.  Just your average Library in a small town.  "Lake Wobegon" has got nothing on us!!!

So, as I stated before welcome to the New Year!  Welcome to the year of the Monkey.

The Librarians at the Shelby Area District Library are ready to help you out in any way.  You can even check us out on our Twitter page and check out our #askalibarian time frames.
