RIP Alan Rickman

Today I open up Internet to see what is going on, what I've missed since last night and my entire world has just collapsed.  

I'm sitting at work just numb all over.  

An amazing, wonderful actor who made you feel every single emotion that is out there, has passed away. Mr. Alan Rickman in one movie/series could you make you hate him to loathe him to feel sorry for him to love him in the end. Such a talented actor on screen and of course his love of Broadway made you love Broadway again. Even though he is gone, we still have Alan Rickman with us whenever we turn on the TV.  

He is with us when we think of a Professor that we despise, but then at the end of the term, just love him with all our hearts. (Harry Potter series) He is with us when we think of Sheriffs. (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) Of the bad guys that make you think they are terrorists but really they just want the money...it's always about that money. (Die Hard) And of course, when we think of sad robots. (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). Who could ever forget the man who loves to act but hates the fans? (Galaxy Quest) Now, whenever I see a caterpillar, I will be thinking of Alan Rickman as well. (Alice in Wonderland)

Rest in Peace Mr. Alan Rickman. And thank you for being a part of our lives.

Here at the Shelby Library we love to help out.  Anything the public needs, we try our best to help them out. Now I'm not saying that we work miracles or anything, but if we can't find the answers we try to help you find someone who can!! Many of the times we would be getting patrons to come in that just needs to find a business.  Whether it be the businesses phone number, fax number or just point to where the building is!!  Many patrons heard a book on the radio and would love to read it, but just can't remember the title nor the author.  But they remember the radio station!!  We also get some people that come in and say I picked up this book not realizing it was part of the series.  Do you know the titles of the others and do you have them?  Or they saw a book on the book stand somewhere and want to read it but just can't remember the title nor the author, nor what it's all about but knows for sure, for sure that the cover of the book was Blue!   Those are jus

Happy New Year, Monkey

I know this is long overdue but.....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! It has been very busy at the Library trying to get back at the pace of actually working.  Checking on book overdue, getting back into the habit of checking in and out books, helping people finding books, (remembering where everything is) and of course picking up that pesky habit of actually waking up and getting out of bed. :) The Library had no trouble picking up the pace though.  People coming in after the holidays looking for new books to check out; needing help with their NEW Nooks, Kindles and iPads that they got for Christmas; faxing, making copies for their work.  Or just people need to check their emails.  Just getting back in the habit of day to day lives.  Seeing familiar faces, talking about what we did on our Christmas/New Years vacation, who did we see.  And then seeing new faces just dropping by, on their way home but need a print of their plane tickets.   Now it is starting be like any other day so I have take
