Love Your Library Month

It's that time again folks.  Where everything is all lovey dovey, and people are expressing themselves to their loved ones.  Just wish the kids would get the memo of NOT sharing their love in the library!!!!!  I don't know how many kids I have had to separate before they reached 2nd base....in a LIBRARY.

Oh well.

At least for us Librarian we are able to share our love this February and and keeping it rated G for all to see.  Every February all Libraries across the Globe is trying to come up with fun ways to share their love of the library and want people to get involved as well.  Most Libraries will have an Amnesty week were we would take off your fines if you bring in all of your late books in....have a donation cup where you "share" your love of your library by donating something to us....Valentine crafts for kids (and sometimes for Adults as well)....set up a "Blind Date with a Book" where we would cover the books with wrapping paper and write something on the cover of the book that gives a brief description of the book (or what I did personally was I would find a Romance song and pick out a few verses and match it to a book and that is what I used for the description on the cover of the book....people love them!!!!)......decorate the library in hearts, pick and red.  A really neat idea we hear at the Shelby Library came up with a neat idea were we would take a selfie with a book that we love and post them on our social media sites.

People love taking selfies and putting them on Twitter, Facebook and even Instagram so why not come up with something like selfies and have everyone around the globe take a selfie of their favorite book and share it with their favorite library!!!  We posted them on Twitter and our other media sites.  Plus we taped them to a wall near the counter so people can see them!

All the staff members were so giddy of taking a selfie with their favorite book and for all to see!!!!  NOT!!  But I convinced them to do it and they actually loved it when they got to see what I did.  I think it turned out just fine.

Just a few ideas if you are looking to decorate your Library or your office.  It's fun and get's people excited about Valentine's Day.....even if they don't have a date.
