Goodnight June

Image
Goodnight June By: Sarah Jio   When you were a child, stories were read to you in all forms. Now a days it's in the form of television and movies. But there was a time where adults used to READ to their children. Either it was to calm the child down, or just for pleasure. The child get to spend that time frame dreaming of knights in shining armor slaying dragons, saving queens. Or living in fairy tales and talking to animals. After the story ends, they either dream into that world, or not. It's just a bunch of stories. They are not real.   So when they grow up to be adults, that's all they think of children's stories....false. Not real, no real honor behind children's books.   Or is there? June Anderson is a successful professionally and living the dream. Only her dream doesn't quite reach into her personal life but for her she is okay with that. Until she receives a letter stating that someone from her childhood whom she loved very much had passe

Librarians can get into a lot of trouble with Pinterest.  I know I am.  I see something on Pinterest, and I just want to get it, make it or do it!  Recently I pinned an Book Tasting Menu idea where the format was like a Restaurant Menu except it was centered around books.  I thought what a wonderful idea for our book club.  Put down what we are reading; book quotes, or author quotes about books; 3 bestselling books for the month; three books from other book groups; and pictures/art of books.  Here is the finishing touch and I just love it. The Book Tasters already love it and they can't wait to receive the next one.  I will try to post the new menu on here each month so you lovely readers can stay in contact with what Book Tasting Book Group is doing!!!

The Little Prince

The Little Prince By:  Antoine De Saint-Exupery "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." William Shakespeare 2016. Two Thousand Sixteen. Just a number. No matter how you spell it, it's just a number. The world however has made it seem bigger than life, more important than it really is. We see it as a fresh beginning. A new start in our lives. What do we look forward to in a New Year? Change. We change the way we look. Get a new hairstyle; try a new fragrance of perfume. Find a new clothing line that will match the new style of shoes. Join a gym, learn a new diet to take away those pesky pounds that somehow creeped up. A lot of things we do in a New Year is to change the way we look on the outside. But what about the inside? What can we do to make us feel better about ourselves? There is so much to be angry about these days, that now instead of joy and happiness, nothing but hatred and bitterness consumes the h

RIP Alan Rickman

Today I open up Internet to see what is going on, what I've missed since last night and my entire world has just collapsed.   I'm sitting at work just numb all over.   An amazing, wonderful actor who made you feel every single emotion that is out there, has passed away. Mr. Alan Rickman in one movie/series could you make you hate him to loathe him to feel sorry for him to love him in the end. Such a talented actor on screen and of course his love of Broadway made you love Broadway again. Even though he is gone, we still have Alan Rickman with us whenever we turn on the TV.   He is with us when we think of a Professor that we despise, but then at the end of the term, just love him with all our hearts. (Harry Potter series) He is with us when we think of Sheriffs. (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) Of the bad guys that make you think they are terrorists but really they just want the money...it's always about that money. (Die Hard) And of course, when we think o

Happy New Year, Monkey

I know this is long overdue but.....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! It has been very busy at the Library trying to get back at the pace of actually working.  Checking on book overdue, getting back into the habit of checking in and out books, helping people finding books, (remembering where everything is) and of course picking up that pesky habit of actually waking up and getting out of bed. :) The Library had no trouble picking up the pace though.  People coming in after the holidays looking for new books to check out; needing help with their NEW Nooks, Kindles and iPads that they got for Christmas; faxing, making copies for their work.  Or just people need to check their emails.  Just getting back in the habit of day to day lives.  Seeing familiar faces, talking about what we did on our Christmas/New Years vacation, who did we see.  And then seeing new faces just dropping by, on their way home but need a print of their plane tickets.   Now it is starting be like any other day so I have take
